Do you think about the many consequences of the decisions you make every day? The S.A.D.D Club is a recently added club to BAHS, focused on promoting good behavior and making good decisions to stay out of trouble.

S.A.D.D stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions. The club’s advisor is Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Mrs. Shawna Weaver and the president is sophomore Shea Kelley. The club was originally made years ago, but it was recently started again this year.

“It was started again because we recognize the value of our goal. The club plans different activities to raise awareness of the negative consequences that can occur by making poor decisions and to encourage students to make positive decisions,” Mrs. Weaver said.

Members of the club make creative signs to put on the walls throughout the school and have students complete activities that relate to decision-making during Raider Period.

“We raise awareness about the effects of decisions such as distracted or impaired driving, drug, and alcohol use,” Shea said.

Shea has the major role of being the president of the club and leads most of the activities they do.

“As the president I begin and run the meetings with the help from my vice president, Maddie Tice, as well as other members of the group,” she said.

Maddie and Shea joined because they strongly believe that the decisions students make have a major impact on themselves and other people close to them. They hope that students can be responsible with their decision making.

The club meets during Raider Period and sometimes before school. Anybody is welcome to join.

“We are empowering young people to successfully confront the risks and pressures that challenge them throughout their daily life,” Mrs. Weaver said.
