Kylie gets scrambled

On January 4, a picture of a simple egg with a white backdrop was posted on Instagram for all to see. Quickly, popularity of this egg grew, and everyone was interested. The main goal of the account was to get more likes on a single picture of an egg than Kylie Jenner, lip kit guru and reality TV star, has on a photo of her baby, Stormi. Her post had previously held the world record of the most likes on Instagram with over 18 million likes.

Kylie Jenner, daughter of Caitlyn Jenner and Kris Jenner, has starred in the reality TV show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” since 2007, when she was only 10 years old. Since then, she has had a rocky relationship with publicity, whether it be on her roaring Instagram page, or on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Her Instagram currently has 124 million followers, and 5784 posts since 2013.

Some of her best achievements include creating her own brand, becoming the world’s youngest self made billionaire, and according to Forbes, even trumping over Mark Zuckerberg. She has also become a mother at 20 years old, giving birth to a baby girl named Stormi Webster, in February of 2018.

On February 6, 2018, Kylie posted a photo of Stormi. Quickly, this photo became the most liked photo in history, with over 18 million likes.

However, on January 4, history was changed. An account on Instagram, called world_record_egg posted a picture of one single egg.  World_record_egg tagged large celebrities, such as late night show hosts, youtubers like Pewdiepie, and popular news sites. The egg quickly gained popularity, and by one week, the egg had surpassed Kylie with over 32 million likes to her 18 million.

By January 16, 2019, the egg had 45 million likes and 7.1 million followers, which more than doubles Kylie’s likes. The egg has still been climbing in popularity, so much so that even Ellen, TV show host, posted about it on her Instagram, and talked about it during one of her shows. She posted a picture of the egg on Instagram with a picture of Kylie Jenner photoshopped over it, and stated in the caption that it should get more likes than both Kylie and the egg combined, because it was a combination of both of them. Unfortunately, it has not quite lived up to that standard yet, but the egg’s popularity still stands strong. The egg page has even got verified on Instagram.

Kylie did however have a comeback to being beat. On January 13, 2019, she posted a short video of her cracking and egg over hot pavement, laughing in retaliation. Her caption was, “Take that little egg.” Thousands of people rushed to the comments of her post,  and commented the egg emoji over and over again. Not only did Kylie post on her own account, she posted a picture on her daughter, Stormi’s Instagram, with the caption, “I’m crying because an egg has more likes than me.” This sparked even more egg emojis and popularity.

Recently, hundreds of fans of the egg account have created new accounts with various images, attempting to beat the record that world_record_egg set. Celebrities have been photoshopping their faces onto pictures of the egg, attempting to gain more likes. People have even been commenting on the original egg post, stating that they were the original people who posted the egg, just to get more followers.

However, the egg’s Instagram has posted on their story stating that all the account who have commented are fake, and that there is only one Instagram for the egg. The egg has become even more iconic, with merchandise with pictures of eggs on them, and other items.

Soon, the egg will surpass all human knowledge, and take over the world. All we can do to prepare right now is to cook as many scrambled eggs as we can, so the army of eggs will be limited. The Jenners and Kardashians will tremble in fear from the omnipotent egg.
