And the winner is…

For the first time in three decades, (1989 to be exact), the 91st Academy Awards had no host to host its show on Sunday, February 24, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The Favourite and Roma took the lead with ten nominations each, A Star Is Born and Vice fell not that far behind with eight nominations each, and Black Panther had seven.

The big winner of the night was the film, Green Book, which won the award for Best Picture. The film, Bohemian Rhapsody, had the most wins with four awards, including Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing, and Rami Malek won Best Actor portraying Freddie Mercury in the film. The film, Black Panther, fell behind the lead winning only three awards including Best Original Score, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design. Out of the ten nominations with, The Favourite, there was only one award won which was Olivia Colman winning Best Actress for her role of Anne, Queen of Great Britain. Also with ten nominations, Roma, won three awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Foreign Language Film, and Alfonso Cuaron won Best Director for the film. From, A Star Is Born, the song, “Shallow,” won Best Original Song, the only award the film won.

Queen took the stage with Adam Lambert to sing the bands hit’s, “We Will Rock You,” and, “We Are The Champions.” Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga also took the stage to sing the hit, “Shallow”.There was a lot of controversy revolving around their performance, with rumors stating that they had a secret fling starting. The performance was very intimate and passionate, with the performance ending with them face to face. Lady Gaga has denied these rumors, but Bradley Cooper has not.
