Dirty Secrets on the Federal Level

By MADALYN MORELLI

Jeffrey Epstein was a finance banker in New York, but he was also a felon. In with America’s elite, he had many connections throughout not only the biggest of Hollywood’s stars, but also with top D.C. politicians.

According to CNN, on July 8, Epstein was charged with one count of sex trafficking a minor, and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. The official accusations state that he abused dozens of girls at many different locations. He was also accused of making his victims “recruit” other girls, mostly minors. The accusations state that he sexually abused girls as young as 14 years old.

He was not given bail before trial. Although, no trial ever ended up taking place, because on August 10th he confirmed to be found dead in his jail cell. On August 16th the medical examiner confirmed he died by apparent suicide.

These charges, however, were not Epstein’s first run in with the law. In 2008 he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of solicitation of prostitution involving a minor. He served 13 months in prison before being getting out on work release. He also then became a registered sex offender.

Epstein was in with the elites of the US, making everything within in this case seem much more corrupt to the public eye. Some of his most known acquaintances within his social circle were former President Bill Clinton, current President Donald Trump, and Queen Elizabeth’s son Prince Andrew.

The trial was set to start soon, but of course it never got anywhere near that point. According to the Associated Press, the medical examiners said he died by apparent suicide hanging. The only issue is that in previous weeks, it seemed as though he had tried to commit self harm, and was put on 24 hour suicide watch. Within American citizens minds, this begs the question, how does man in federal prison on 24 hour suicide watch end up committing suicide?

There are many conspiracy theories floating around, but it seems to be a large majority of the American public believe Epstein was murdered. Having the reputation he did, and the friends he had as well, many believe Epstein had some information that could put some of America’s most elite politicians on trial. Many speculate that Epstein was murdered in jail to make sure he kept quiet about the crimes that took place with some of the most powerful men around the world.
