A friendly face at Bellefonte
September 30, 2020
Just about anyone would tell you that senior Max Rogers is one of the kindest people they have ever encountered here at Bellefonte High. With his outgoing personality, he has made his mark on this school and is someone who will always be remembered for having a big heart and a friendly face that anyone can talk to.
This year, Max is doing online school due to the ongoing pandemic. However, he has adapted to this major change and is loving it. It has given him time to be able to do more things he enjoys, try new activities, and see more places.
“Online school is amazing. It is tremendous to be able to go at a pace that suits me. I can even look ahead on my assignments and see what is due in the next few weeks and get ahead on my work to be able to have more time to explore life,” he said.
Max is involved in baseball, National Honor Society (NHS), Raider Revolution, Class Cabinet, and Drama. These clubs have helped shape him into who he is today.
“The clubs that I am a part of truly taught me important life lessons that I can use in everyday life. These lessons can help me thrive [later in life],” he said.
He hopes to further his education in the future by attending some college at and travel more later in life.
“I hope to study in the field of forensic science. I am looking at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Saint Vincent College, along with some others on the West Coast. I would love to attend a college or university and then explore the world,” he said.
Max has made a huge impact on the classes he has been taking by showing up to every class in a great mood and ready to take on whatever may be thrown at him. He brought his positive attitude to school every day, something that many people value. Max’s happiness is contagious as he can turn any situation into a positive one.
“Max brings such a joyous energy to everything he does, whether it’s a small classwork assignment or a big project, he is always genuinely enthusiastic to complete it and engage with the content. That kind of energy is infectious— he literally brings out the happiness in other people with whom he’s working,” tenth grade English teacher Mrs. Kat Momenzadeh said.
His astonishing ability to take on multiple clubs and classes without showing any stress is one trait that leaves many people in awe. Max is a very hardworking student and does not let anything stand in his way of achieving his accomplishments.
“Not only is Max very intelligent and respectful but he is fun to be around. I always admired how he was able to balance school, extracurriculars, and athletics with such ease,” Spanish teacher Mrs. Victoria Smith said. While maintaining his outstanding grades, Max spends a lot of time outside of school hanging out or studying with his friends and performing in Drama, something he has a special talent in and has provided him the confidence that will be beneficial in his future.
“There is nothing you can’t do if you have a background in theater. Max always stands out when he’s on the stage, and knowing how to read and respond to an audience and turn on the stage presence will ensure he always exudes confidence and competence in future ‘adulting’
situations,” Mrs. Momenzadeh said.
Max’s closest friends all agree that he is someone they can rely on and someone that will always look out for them.
“My favorite memory with him is studying for AP Biology with him, Sara Rados, and Austin Melius at Barnes and Nobles. It helped a lot and was really fun. Max is a great friend and always has my back,” said senior Elizabeth Marchini.
Max’s friends love his company and never have a dull moment when they are with him.
“Having Max as a friend is great. He is a great guy and always makes me happy when he is around. He always makes any situation fun, no matter where we are he makes it fun,” senior Eddie Henry said.
