Just Dance, it'll be okay

The year is 2010: you turn on your Wii and start up Just Dance 2. The song “Rasputin” by Boney M. starts blaring as the intro loads up and you get ready for a dance battle against your sibling. Just Dance is a family-oriented game created by Ubisoft that will make you dance til you drop. It is a game that mostly everyone is familiar with and brings back some of the best memories.

Video games are an insanely fast growing market, from Esports to Casual Games, the audience spans all ages. Just Dance is a game that has become a household name and it recently made a comeback to the scene with its stellar 2021 edition. This edition brought back some old fans, including me. The pure joy and stupid fun Just Dance provides is what keeps people coming back year after year after year.

Ubisoft releases a new edition each year with about 40 new songs and some returning ones from previous games. Just Dance flew to popularity back in 2010 with its most popular release to date, Just Dance 2, and slowly after that began to become a steady flow of popularity. As children grew older and video games evolved, the market for the goofy Just Dance genre slowly lost its shine. But fear not, as of recently with the edition of Just Dance Unlimited, Ubisoft’s attempt at revival, some fans have started to come back

Just Dance Unlimited is a subscription service that is purchasable for any game that is Just Dance 2017 or later. It provides players with over 500 songs from every single Just Dance game to date. That’s right! I’m talking, “Rasputin” by Boney M., “Firework” by Katy Perry, “Starships” by Nicki Minaj, “Funky Town” by Steve Greenbergy, etc. Just when you thought your days of  hitting “YEAH” moves and accidentally hitting your siblings while dancing were over, Ubisoft dropped their hook to lure you back in.

On top of that, another great feature of the newer games is “Sweat Mode.” “Sweat Mode” is a new feature that turns any song into a workout. It allows you to see the calories you are burning as you dance and try to reach the highest score you can while sweating your butt off. It is a super fun feature to maybe bring in some people who want a fun workout instead of mindlessly running on a treadmill. Imagine telling your friends you lost 10 pounds by dancing to Nicki Minaj – that’s something you don’t hear every day.

Just Dance has provided endless memories and countless fun times and is always welcome at a party. Whether you are looking to workout or just have some fun with friends, Just Dance is a must buy and a must keep for anyone who owns a gaming system.
