Tiger Woods (Eldrick Tont Woods) is an American professional golfer who holds numerous golf records. The 45 year-old gold legend was in a tragic car accident on February 23, which damaged many parts of his body. He is now healing and regaining strength. Everyone on social media and the news is saying “he is lucky to be alive.”
Wood’s luxury SUV rolled off the road in the Los Angeles area on a Tuesday morning. He was found unconscious by a man who lives near the site in Rolling Hills Estates. This man heard the crash when it happened and walked toward the SUV to find Woods, according to an article posted by ABC7.
The road that he crashed on is known as a terrible stretch of road. The authorities said, “he was driving, struck the median of a road in Los Angeles County, crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic, and rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a grassy area several hundred feet from where he had been driving,” according to an article by the New York Times.
After the accident happened, Woods was still conscious and talking. The authorities said that his conditions were not life threatening, although had terrible leg injuries. He was sent straight to surgery after the accident happened, and was in for several hours to repair what doctors called “significant orthopedic injuries” to his ankle and his lower right leg.
After his surgery, he was responsive and wide awake. When Woods was in his car accident, he was suffering from trauma and he still is. The New York Times article reported that Woods suffered from trauma, which is “damage to a person’s mind as a result of one or more distressing events causing overwhelming amounts of stress that exceed the person’s ability to cope or integrate the emotions involved, eventually leading to serious, long-term negative consequences.” Woods is slowly recovering from this accident.
