The new Cinderella movie is unique and becoming the source of major controversy. Camila Cabello, a famous singer, stars as Cinderella in the new modern version and, unlike most previous versions of the story, she is a brunette. 

Controversy may also arise from the new spin they put on the Fairy Godmother. Traditionally, the Fairy Godmother is played by an older white female,  but in this new film the Fairy Godmother is played by Billy Porter, a black male. Also Prince Charming’s name is changed to Prince Robert. It’s amazing to see a film that is remade a lot have a modern and fun twist. 

This new Cinderella movie also has a more musical spin on it than the original film from 1950. In this version, there are a number of spins on popular songs, from artists including Queen, Madonna, and Ed Sheeran. Another unique spin they put on this musical film is that it has quite a bit of comedy and a theme of women empowerment compared to the original. Even though there are many unique things about this new version, they stick to the original plot. 

This new film is very well executed and is one of the best Cinderella remakes. They picked amazing actors and actresses that portrayed their characters very well. Camila Cabello plays Cinderella in this film and, even though she is typically a famous singer as opposed to an actress, I thought she fit perfectly. Nicholas Galitzine plays Prince Robert and he did a great job portraying this character. I thought he did especially well because in this film, we see a new version of the Prince that no one has done before. The chemistry that Camila and Nicholas bring to the screen as Cinderella and the Prince is amazing. Their voices also complement each other very well, and they express a lot of emotion through their singing.

Many of the side characters in the film also did very well in their parts. Billy Porter plays the Fabulous Godmother, Idina Menzel plays the Stepmother, and Pierce Brosnan plays King Rowan. Billy Porter did a fantastic job at bringing a new look to the Fairy Godmother. His acting was very good and the comedy he brought to the film really added to it. I love how he still kept the original concept of the Fairy Godmother but put his own spin on it. Idina Menzel does a very good job as the evil stepmother, but I think she could have added a little bit more attitude towards Cinderella. Billy Porter and Idina Menzel brought excellent voices to the musical and every song they sang was very well done. Pierce Brosnan did a very good job as King Rowan, but I think he might have made the King seem worse than the Stepmother, and the Stepmother is traditionally portrayed as the ultimate villain in Cinderella films.      

 Overall, the musical spin on this Cinderella film is very well executed. The actors and actresses brought amazing onscreen chemistry and portrayed their characters very well. Camila Cabello and Nicholas Giltzine especially did an amazing job as the main characters in the unique version. The singing in the musical is also very well done and the singers really brought a lot of emotion through their singing. All the unique things about this film are amazing and they did a good job of not making it seem like the many other remakes of Cinderella. This Cinderella remake is one of the best remakes of this popular film.
