The girls’ lacrosse team at Bellefonte has experienced their most successful season in the history of the program. The team has one of the best records in recent memory and won their first district playoff game ever on May 17.

Just like every other high school sport during the era of Covid, the team had to try and get through the tough times. Now, the 2022 season gave them a chance for their first “normal” season in three years. A complete season gave a legitimate send off to the seniors who play on the team and a good return based on a successful season.

Senior player Hana Rados said that the season was her best in her high school career, describing how “the energy of the season [was] phenomenal.” Her favorite memory this year came from that energy.

There’s a very infamous video of me shoving a girl to the ground that I will never live down,” she said.

Hana will be taking the fall semester off, and will attend Lock Haven University in the Spring of 2023 to major in a history field.

The season has also given a career milestone for one player. Senior Molly McKee surpassed 100 career goals in a regular season game in April. She will be continuing her lacrosse career in college, attending Mount Aloysius College as an Environmental Science major.

“My favorite season in high school was definitely this year. Everyone put their all into the season and I became closer with everyone and the new underclassmen, and I’m going to miss it a lot,” Molly said.

Their first district playoff game occurred in late May. This was the first time that Bellefonte entered the district playoffs with a chance of winning the championship.

“Freshman season would be my favorite because it was our first season as an official school sport,” Senior Victoria Clouser said.

She recalled beating Selinsgrove for the first time, and stated that as her favorite memory from her high school years. She is currently undecided on her plans post-high school.

“Now that we have proven to ourselves that we can win, we will expand our practices and work harder to win the championship next year,” said the coaching staff.

Congratulations to the girls lacrosse team on an impressive season.
