The place to get pierced in Bellefonte

When you first walk in to Black Cat Piercings you will notice the cool atomsphere with art along the walls. The shop, ran by Kady McKinley, is located next to the Black Diamond barber shop at 224 West High Street in Bellefonte.

Owner McKinley uses fresh and clean needles, so this is a good place to go for a safe piercing experience. She got her start in piercing with help from friends, and has been loving her life since starting her business.

“Honestly I was looking for a job, and I had some friends in the [piercing] industry [who] mentioned an available apprenticeship to apply for. So I applied for the position and I’m thankful that I did because it matches my lifestyle and I don’t wake up everyday dreading going to work because I love what I do,” McKinley said.

Being a piercer entails many different aspects, but she cherishes certain parts the most.

“My favorite part about my job is the people I get to meet and the stories we share,” McKinley said.

There is more to piercing then just doing the job, there is buying just the right jewlery and planning and figuring out new piercings.

“What I like most about piercing is creating unique ear projects and picking out jewelry for those piercings,” McKinley said.

Black Cat Piercings has many options such as nose piercings, tongue, and plenty more to choose from.

“My favorite piercings are the Conch and Scapha because there are so many different placements and jewelry to pick from,” McKinley said.

She chose Bellefonte for her piercing shop because she lived here as a kid and wanted to return to her roots and help better Bellefonte by adding a new business.

“I grew up here, and the fact that I get to watch and be a part of a community that is ever-evolving,” McKinley said.
