Every town needs someone to bring on the smiles, and that is Bellefonte Area High School Class of 2015 graduate Jordan Corman who returned to Bellefonte to be an educator, as a substitute. Jordan attended Lock Haven University education, and was involved in Greek Society, as well as several clubs. He also participated in the Disney Program.

“I went to Lock Haven University where I was an executive member of Phi Sigma Pi, performed with University Players (drama club), and was published in the university’s literary publication ‘The Crucible.’ My biggest adventure had to be participating in the Disney College Program,” Mr. Corman said.

He has had the opportunity to explore a range of  job experiences, and have fun while doing it. He held three different job duties while working at Disney.

My home was Animal Kingdom park, where I sold snacks as a vendor and stocked them as well. My coolest role was called magic maker. I was one of only five people to have this role…basically I would go and make guests happy by adding a little’“magic’ to their trip,” Mr. Corman said.

Now, Mr. Corman has returned to Bellefonte. From serving tables, to substituting at BAHS, to going on adventures, he takes time to do each of these things to celebrate life, while working for it.

I work at Titan Hollow serving tables in addition to substitute teaching and sometimes even delivering for some of the delivery apps. When I’m not working I’m traveling. I love going places,” he said.

Mr. Corman wants the students he teaches and the people around him to know it is best to love the job you have instead of going to a work force you aren’t made for.

I’ve worked in lots of industries and have learned a lot from each. I recommend exploring the job market and learning what you like and don’t like doing.”

He’s the happiest when substituting at Bellefonte, since then he’s close to his Bellefonte roots.

I enjoy being a substitute teacher at BASD. The main reason is because I can thank my former educators. Coming back and being able to connect with my former teachers and thank them for their positive impact is such a blessing,” Mr. Corman said.

An English teacher at Bellefonte, Mrs. Jennifer Walter, helped Mr. Corman realize his passion for teaching early on.

“While a student at BAHS, I found my calling to be an educator. Jen Walter inspired me to be an educator when I had her in ninth grade,” he said.

Aside from work, he loves to travel and go to places that make him not only remember his love for teaching, but also have a fun time.

“I also went on an awesome trip to London with the International Club where I got to perform In Shakespeare’s Globe. I’ve continued to teach skiing and snowboarding locally at Tussey Mountain, which is where I really found my love for teaching,” Mr. Corman said.

Mr. Corman’s true desire it to find a local teaching position.

I am hoping to get a local teaching position and stay in the area. The truth is most adults have no clue what they’re doing and we just do our best. My goal is to bring a smile wherever I go and make people laugh, so as long as I’m doing that I’ll be happy,” Mr. Corman said.
