Halloween Ends: a terrifying final installment

Forty-four years ago, a small, low budget movie came out and was expected to be just another slasher film. Since its release, it has become one of the most popular movies and iconic slashers of cinema history.

It all started in the year 1978, with the release of the first Halloween movie and the introduction to one of slasher movies biggest faces, Michael Myers. He slashed his way through the first movie before being defeated by Doctor Loomis. However, he made his reappearance in a second installment in 1981.

There came to be many more movies in this series, and many reboots like 2021’s Halloween Kills. This year, the supposed final installment of the franchise titled Halloween Ends was released in theaters on October 14. With Halloween being one of the top slasher movies to this day, comparable to Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Scream, this final film of the series has many fans quite excited.

With this being the final movie of the series, fans may find themselves wondering how a killer character like Michael Myers will finally end since he’s kept coming back time and time again.  Is there even a way they can end him for good? Can they actually end the series? Will someone else just continue the series? How many reboots will there be? One thing that’s for sure is that fans are in for a thrill with this next Halloween movie.

The theaters were full and busy on opening week and opening day on October 22 along with a lot of excitement, but it was noticeable that many fans were pretty upset and irritable with the movie, as it was said to have a slow start and feature the main antagonist Michael Myers very little. Some said the movie  gave him a bad look as they would make look weak and have no power that was shown in the previous movies.

The film series’ main star, Jamie Lee Curtis, reprised her role as Laurie Strode that she’s made famous over the years. Curtis had a really solid performance as noted by multiple fan, and was one of the stronger parts of the film.

Overall, I would give this movie a 3.5 out of 5 star rating because of the slow start and few appearances from Myers, as well as making him look worse then he actually is, as he has been known to “come back from the dead.” In my opinion, they made him look weak leading up to his final demise rather then the character he’s been made famous for.
