Two weekends ago during  Victorian Christmas, the Bellefonte High Class of 2023 hosted the second annual Raider Reindeer 4K, a run/walk along Roopsburg Road and Spring Creek.

BAHS Learning Support teacher Mrs. Kim Gasper has been the race director of the Raider Reindeer 4K for the past two years. Mrs. Gasper started the event last year to fill in for a missing fundraiser for the Class of 2022.

“I have some experience race directing, so I talked to our class officers and Cabinet about putting on a race during Bellefonte Victorian Christmas. We wanted to keep the cost low to encourage participation and worked hard to secure sponsors from local businesses to make a profit to benefit our senior activities,” Mrs. Gasper said.

The comunity loved the event, so Mrs. Gasper and the Cof 2023 decided to put it on again this year.

“Last year was the first Raider Reindeer 4K. The race participants’ feedback was that we should do this every year. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the unique awards (Reindeer cookies) and overall male and female winners received a stuffed reindeer,” she said.

Mrs. Gasper enjoys seeing participants dressed in their holiday wear while getting some exercise.

“I am hoping that we can grow this run/walk as an awesome holiday family event. It is fun to see the participants dressed in their holidayware enjoying time getting in some good exercise then taking a stroll through Bellefonte during Victorian Christmas weekend,” she said.

BAHS senior Davis Corman is the Class President for the Class of 2023. He helped to organize, as well as participated in the race.

“The highlight of the Raider Reindeer 4K was the start of the race when we saw all the individuals line up and participate in this great event” Davis said.

Davis is very proud of everything his class did to prepare for this event.

“This was by far one of the most stressful things I had ever done, but I was excited with the end result and I am really proud of all that our class did to put this event together,” he said.

The Class of 2023 raised over $1,500 from the Raider Reindeer 4K that will go toward senior activities this year.
