As of recently, the football team has been on a hot streak, crushing every opponent in their path. They had an undefeated season for the second consecutive year, and were making highlight plays on both sides of the ball.

This season was surely one to remember for all of the coaches and players. The offense had a deadly combination of perfectly schemed run plays that wore down the defense and gained the needed yards. They were also extremely efficient at passing and scoring touchdowns in one play deep downfield every game. The offense only didn’t score when they didn’t feel like it, because they were so good it was their decision.

Senior Addison Shawley was a part of the game-wrecking offensive line that paved the way for the skill players to score.

“I carried these guys, don’t give them any credit for our success. Well, except for Tristen Packer. He’s a stud,” Addison said.

The defense was locked down and did not allow a single inch for opposing offenses in most games. The teams did not even attempt to pass, because every defensive back was a ball hawk who perfectly understood their assignment. They ran like a well-oiled machine at all times and nobody wanted to be tackled by the Raiders because of the pure hitting power displayed every play. The ‘22 Raiders have even been compared to the famous ‘85 Chicago Bears and other hall of fame defenses.

Bellefonte is looking to continue their success into next year, as many of the seniors are coming back due to being eligible for their covid year. They are favored to win their third consecutive state championship in a row.

Not only are the players happy with the success but the fans along with students are ready for the Bellefonte dominance in football to continue.

“I am so excited for next year,” Eric Williams said while sitting in the parking lot with Ricky Redman.  “All the players coming back and returning healthy as they always do, there is going to be no competition.”
