Superstar student Kate

Many seniors recognize the name Kate Rarrick through one of her many involvements both within and outside of the classroom. She is involved with the Cross Country, Track and Field, and Swim teams as well as Student Council, Academic Decathlon, Model UN, Mock Trial, National Honor Society, FIRST Robotics, FBLA, Class Cabinet, and Spanish Honor Society as the president. Kate is also the presumptive Class of 2023 valedictorian. After graduation, she will be attending Penn State University for Biomedical Engineering.
Biology teacher Mr. Chris Freidhoff, who also works as a jumps coach for Track and Field, has Kate for AP Biology. Mr. Freidhoff Kate’s determination can be seen both in the classroom and on the field.
“I’ve never witnessed someone put so much effort into school and athletics as Kate has,” he said.
Maya Knupp, Class of 2023 treasurer, talked about what it was like working with Kate throughout high school.
“I love working alongside Kate and the other officers in Class Cabinet. It’s what keeps me in it,” she said, and then followed with talking about how Kate takes on the roles she gets.
“She puts so much effort and passion into her role as secretary. She made it really easy and comfortable for me to ease into my position as treasurer in our sophomore year,” she said.
Class of 2023 President Davis Corman has worked alongside Kate throughout high school. He talked about how she keeps him steady in his life.
“Kate has become my rock in everything I have done, whether in or out of school. Despite trying to beat her in everything, which I always fail to do, she continues to be my support and help me whenever I am in trouble. Honored is what it has been like working alongside Kate,” he said.
When asked, Kate talked about how she likes to spend her free time, when not dealing with academics and athletics.
“In my free time, I really enjoy just being with my friends. I don’t really care what we do, I feel most happy just being around them,” she said.
History and AP Psychology teacher Mrs. Chris Morris, who also serves as Student Council advisor, spoke on Kate and the various attributes that make her the person that she is.
“Kate Rarrick is a genuine and caring student. She supports her peers both in athletics and clubs encouraging them to be successful. Kate is a leader who will do what is needed to be done for activities that her organizations are involved in. Kate has the ability to work with everyone around her. Her attention to detail and strong sense of self-efficacy describe her personality,” she said.
When asked about whether Kate has made a positive impact on his life, Davis was absolutely positive that she had.
“There is no doubt Kate has made a positive impact in my life. Whether it was in school, athletics, or life, she has always been there for me, pushing me to be my best and a better upstanding individual, and I am forever indebted to her,” he said.
Overall, Kate Rarrick is a very successful part of the Class of 2023 and we cannot wait to see where she ends up in the future.
