For All The Dog’s
By PARKER CAPPARELLE
For All The Dog’s is music artist Drake’s new album. The album was released this year on October 6th. The album has 23 songs making it 1 hour 24 minutes long. It includes features with very popular music artists like Teezo Touchdown, 21 Savage, J.cole, Yeat, SZA, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Sexyy Red, and Lil Yachty. In the album, the longest song, Rich Daddy (feat.Sexyy Red & SZA), was 5:20, and the shortest song, Screw The World-Interlude, was 1:50.
There are many Drake fans at Bellefonte Area High School (BAHS). Junior, Tate Tooker, was very passionate about the new album. Tate really enjoys the sounds on the album, along with the featured artists.
“I really mess with Virginia Beach on the new album because Aurberh Graham’s voice is so so nice and the Frank Ocean sample just really gets me going you know,” Tate said.
Tate views that the album was good, but he didn’t agree it was as good as people were making it.
“I despise Screw The World-Interlude. I hate it because it sounds like a broken record, really horrendous. Also, Drake doesn’t even sing and he is my glorious king and I love him. I do think it lived up to the hype that was built up over the past few months, you know it got pushed back a couple times and I did mind that at the time because I really wanted to listen to it. But I’m glad he did that because maybe he took that time to make the album as good as it was,” Tate said
BAHS sophomore, John Servant, was happy to share his thoughts as he has multiple opinions on the album. His favorite song was “Rich Baby Daddy” due to Sexxy Red’s meaningful lyrics. He also enjoyed SZA’s part since it caught him off guard due to her outstanding voice.
“I would say Rich Baby Daddy would be my favorite in the new album because Sexxy Red had really good and meaningful lyrics. Also SZA’s part really caught me off guard and was really outstanding,” John said.
John felt as if there was an underwhelming portion of the album, due to “Screw The World-Interlude. It wasn’t his own song, yet Drake put it on his album. John felt as if that was unfair, and just weird placement overall. John did enjoy the album, but thought it could’ve been better than what it was.
“I do think it lived up to the hype somewhat. Not as much as I wanted it to but it was still overall a good album. Did I think it needed to be pushed back like twice? No, maybe once. But certainly not twice. But overall it did live up to some hype,” John said.
Junior, Liam Halterman, wanted to state his opinion on “For All The Dog’s.”
“I really enjoy listening to Slime You Out because not only is Drake’s part good. But SZA’s part, oh my days was that good. I could listen to it all day,” Liam said.
Liam’s least favorite song on the album was “Gently” due to half of the song being in Spanish and other languages. He enjoyed the music, yet didn’t understand the lyrics.
“I would say I don’t really think it lived up to my expectations and the hype around it. I really don’t think it needed to be pushed back at all because the album was just O.K. I mean maybe he used that time to make the album just okay. But no, I don’t think the album lived up to the hype that was brought to it over the past couple months,” Liam said.
Sophomore, Wyatt Long, and his inputs on “For All The Dog’s.”
“I really like Virginia Beach because it is just such a good song. It has a nice slow pace that is just so smooth and it all just comes together and sounds so good!” Wyatt said.
Wyatt’s least favorite song was “Daylight” since he didn’t like the kid singing in the beginning and end. And overall thought the album would have a better outcome.
“No, absolutely not. The album did not live up to the hype at all. I mean all the early released songs were good, so naturally I thought the whole thing would be good. But no. I was really let down on the whole thing pretty much. The album did not live up to the hype at all,” Wyatt said.
Though many students at BAHS have different views on the album, there were still many good songs the students will continue to listen to.
