The Brains and Beauty of Bellefonte

A senior at Bellefonte Area High School (BAHS), Kylie Edmondson, plays a significant role in the class of 2024. She is a very active club member during her time at BAHS, and she’s also a sideline and competitive cheerleader. Kylie hopes to accomplish as much as possible in her final year at BAHS.
Kylie has been involved in Class Cabinet for three years. She is also the secretary of the National Honors Society for two years and is also the Secretary of the Spanish Honor Society.
Edmondson is also an active member of the school’s Academic Decathlon team and is also their secretary. She has been a member of the team for two years, and her favorite part is competing at each competition. Last year she placed first in the speech event at districts. Her goal for this upcoming year is to win districts again and hopefully make it to states.
“I hope that the whole team can work hard and medal at all of our competitions,” She said.
Senior Hayden Friel competes alongside Kylie at each competition for Academic Decathlon.
“She’s pretty cool and very smart. She is a very good role model and helped me during my first year participating in Academic Decathlon,” Hayden said.
Outside of school one of Kylie’s hobbies is cheering. She cheers on like sidelines for football and competes competitively throughout the winter. She enjoyed cheering on the sideline every Friday night this fall.
“My favorite extracurricular/sport is Cheerleading because I love all of my teammates and coaches, and I love being a part of FNL and competing at competitions,” Kylie said.
Senior Sadie Thomas is on the sideline and competitive cheerleading team with Kylie. They have cheered alongside each other since they were little.
“She’s a very good flyer and a good teammate. She’s always friendly to everyone on the team,” Sadie said.
Kylie is excited and looking forward to what the rest of her senior year will bring, and all the exciting activities that come with being a senior.
“I’m most looking forward to all of the senior activities, such as the senior trip, senior ball, and the all-night party,” Kylie said.
Her goal this year is just to keep working hard at school. She hopes to get accepted into one of her dream colleges such as UPenn, Columbia, or NYU.
After high school, she plans to attend college where she will major in Biochemistry. She then hopes to move on to medical school with the hopes of becoming a surgeon one day.
Overall, she has put a lot of work and effort into her high school career and has big plans ahead of her. Friends and family can’t wait to see what she ends up doing in the future and wish her the best of luck.
