Bellefonte High is filled with many academically-inclined, smart, and beautiful students. Senior Kate Harman is one of these students, and also a quiet but incredibly kind person.
Kate is involved in a variety of clubs, sports, and activities, including Raider Revolution, Class Cabinet, Drama Club, Choir, Chorale, Student Prayer Group, NHS, Girls Golf team, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She plays major roles in these extracurriculars, including being the captain of the golf team this past season and is the current president of both Choir and Drama Club.
Each of these clubs have impacted Kate’s life, with the Drama Club being the most valuable to her. She has been in four productions so far at Bellefonte High, with a fifth coming up in the spring.
“I met some of my best friends there, and was able to find a group that was welcoming and supportive. It also helped me to become more confident, outgoing, and find out that I love performing. I am so thankful for the Drama Club as a whole,” Kate said.
Junior Erin Ashe is also involved in Drama Club. She sees Kate as one of the best actors in the club.
“She [Kate] is a phenomenal singer and hearing her sing is like heaven,” Erin said.
Aside from Drama, Erin and Kate are really good friends.
“What makes Kate a good friend is her caring personality. She is always there when you need her and she is the sweetest person ever. When she walks in the room she immediately lights it up and makes the situation better,” Erin said.
Outside of school, Kate is heavily involved in her church and youth group where she volunteers regularly there and in the community. Junior Elyse Olson is also in her youth group.
“Kate is very active in our youth group, participating in almost everything including missions trips, worship team, working with the kids, and any service project or fundraiser in action,” Elyse said.
Kate also represents the school as Miss Bellefonte, which she considers an honor.
“I was able to travel to Renovo in October to represent Bellefonte at the Flaming Fall Foliage Festival there and competed against girls from other schools around the area. It was a very enjoyable and meaningful weekend,” Kate said.
After high school, Kate plans on attending Lock Haven University for Early Childhood Education.
Kate’s father, Kevin Harman, is a science teacher at the high school. He is proud of Kate’s accomplishments.
“As a teacher, I can say that Kate is impressive in not only her academics, but also with her involvement and versatility in activities,” Mr. Harman said. “As a dad, I am incredibly proud of the wonderful young lady she has become; she cares for others, handles a ton, and always brings a smile to my face.”
