As the snow falls in Bellefonte, students rush to their closets looking for new looks for the upcoming season, whether it be the new mini UGG boots, puffer vests, sweaters, and even jewelry. As a student body, we want to help everyone freshen up the fashion sense with some advice and ideas for new and improved ‘fits.
Sophomore Payten Stull would have to pick UGGs for the shoe to wear this winter season. The shoes are not only stylish, but cozy.
“UGGs are definitely the best shoes for winter. They keep your feet warm and look good with almost any outfit,” Payten said.
Freshman Kathleen Wickersham notes that a regular UGG is always a good choice, and adding ear muffs or other accessories can really help make an outfit.
“UGGs classic short boots with a ribbon, fluffy white earmuffs, and white jacket with black pants,” Kathleen said.
While UGGs is a popular choice for shoes, gloves are the moment for a warm but fashionable accessory, according to sophomore Ava Fischer.
“UGGs have been a very big trend in fashion recently. Also gloves are comfortable and arguably the most useful winter accessory,” Ava said.
While Uggs may be what is the hot show right now, Dr. Martens are always a reliable and cute shoe if UGGs are not your cup of tea.
“Dr. Martens are the best shoes for winter as they are waterproof and are very slip resistant, and a warm cardigan and jeans will keep you warm during the winter season. Pinterest is also a really good way to find outfit inspiration,” Ava said.
Sophomore Aislynn Timblin loves a good coverup.
“Turtlenecks with puffy vests/winter coats/jackets. Several skin colored tights, platform boots, white leg warmers, a mini skirt, and a plain sweater or a sweater with a simple design” are just a few fashion trends that Aislynn appreciates.
Layers are what helps a person get around during the winter, while looking cute and not getting cold.
“Layers. layers. layers. you can dress however you want but it’s something that would show a lot of skin, wear skin colored tights underneath it so you’re still warm and can look good,” Aislynn said.
Freshman Emma Roos has seen a lot of different styles this year but the main one would be a Scandinavian style. This includes big sweaters with baggy pants combo.
“A popular style I’ve been seeing is a very Scandinavian-esque aesthetic. This has lots of big cozy sweaters (specifically striped ones), paired with baggier dress pants, or jeans all in calming neutral colors of course. Usually accessorized with casual sneakers, tote bags, and sleek updos. There are many ways to both elevate and simply be comfortable in this look,” Emma said.
With boots being a big winter fashion statement, Emma believes one specific type can be essential in completing your winter wardrobe.
“I personally think the best winter shoes would be a solid pair of black Chelsea boots. I find myself wearing my pair more often than not with all my outfits. They are the perfect mix of function and style,” Emma said.
Pinterest is what many students think is the best way to find outfit inspiration in this day and age. There are all different types of outfits that match everyone’s flare.
“When I am looking for any kind of outfit inspiration I go first and foremost to my rusty trusty pinterest board,” Emma said.
As you’re deciding what to wear next in these cold winter months, you might consider finding inspiration on Pinterest or just taking a look around you in the halls of Bellefonte High.
