Bellefonte High has many students who excel in their school careers. Some excel through sports, while others excel through academics. However, Samuel “Sam” Henry is one of the seniors who is able to excel in both.
Sam participates in school clubs and sports. He played varsity soccer earlier in the school year as defense. He has been involved in three of Bellefonte High’s musical productions starting with Bye-bye Birdie and ending with the 2023-24 spring production of Between the Lines. Now, Sam is currently involved in the Concert Choir and Class Cabinet. Sam also takes the title of being vice president for both the Drama Club and the Concert Choir.
With his final year at Bellefonte High, Sam has made many memories within the school. However, his most unforgettable moment within his high school career is time spent with his friends.
“My favorite memories are hanging out with my friends at football games and other sporting events,” he said.
In his four years at Bellefonte High, Sam has made friends that will stick with him forever. Through both Drama and soccer, Sam’s impact has a friendly feeling to all those around him. Junior Erin Ashe has been friends with Sam since her freshman year.
“Sam is a very wonderful person and he’s very kind towards every person that he meets. I love doing rehearsals with him,” Erin said.
Drama Director and Performing Arts teacher Mr. Eric Brinser has worked with Sam ever since his sophomore year in Bye Bye Birdie.
“Sam has been a very dedicated member of the Drama Club and Choir the past four years. He’s never afraid to ask questions so he can get a better understanding of things. I’ve always been impressed how he is never one to shy away from a challenge on stage – regardless of the character he is asked to play,” Mr. Brinser said.
Sam has also made many plans for his post-graduate career. Although he is currently undecided on his major.
“My plans for after graduation are to go to college and further my education. I was recently accepted into Penn State University Park,” Sam said.
As the last four years of his high school career are coming to an end, Sam has made many new bonds with peers around him. As he’s getting ready to graduate, Sam reminisces on all of those connections.
“Something I’ll miss from high school is all my friends who may not be going to the same college as me,” he said.
Sam Henry is a hardworking student at Bellefonte High who has made a lasting impact on his underclassmen everyday through his personality.
