Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching as many people prepare to go out with their dates and friends to celebrate the holiday of love. Affection is expressed in so many ways; through art, letters, and even large gestures with flowers and dinner. The most popular way to express the overwhelming emotion, however, is through music.
Romance songs are not hard to come by. Artists such as Olivia Rodrigo or Taylor Swift can be seen as good “romance singers” since a lot of their songs are considered love songs due to their overall themes of falling in love or heartbreaks. These tunes can make a good addition to your Valentine’s playlists this year. However, those two song artists are not the only ones to add to the playlist in 2024.
Here’s a list of songs that aren’t so popular to listen to for the holiday and strengthen your passion for this Valentine’s Day:
- For the happy and loud love:
- “Check Yes, Juliet” by We The Kings
- “You Should Probably Leave” by Chris Stapleton
- “Ode to a Conversation Stuck in your Throat” by Del Water Gap
- “Girl of Your Dreams” by Dylan
- “Kilby Girl” by The Backseat Lovers
- For the quiet and soft intimacy:
- “Work Song” by Hozier
- “Somethin’ Stupid” By Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra
- “Valentine” by Laufey
- “Caught” by Florence + The Machine
- “Fair” by The Amazing Devil
Of course, love isn’t always that great. Sometimes, it seems to just rip you in two. Here’s some songs for those times where it just hurts a little too much.
- The loud and the hurting:
- “Off My Mind” by Joe P
- “Are you happy?” by Shy Martin
- “N y l a” by Blackbear
- “You’re Such A” by Hailee Steinfield
- “I Hope” by Gabby Barrett
- The silent crying
- “Falling Behind” by Laufey
- “Never Love an Anchor” by The Crane Wives
- “His Hands” by Blegh
- “Breathe” by CUTTS
