The Bellefonte girls’ swim team has had another remarkable season this year and it’s not over yet. After coming off back-to-back-to-back district titles, they hope to get a fourth to close out the season before states.
Seniors Katelyn Packer and Kiaha McCool stand out while they have committed to swimming at the next level.
Katelyn has committed to swimming at the University of Rochester and Kiaha has chosen Texas Christian University.
“I chose to commit to the University of Rochester because when I visited I got to see the close atmosphere of the team, as well as continue a good education. In seeing how the team interacted, I was able to know that I would be a good fit athletically. After my trip and my reflection, I was able to see myself going there, which moved my decision to the college,” Katelyn said.
Kiaha noticed the environment of Texas Christian University, as well as fellow recruits.
“The other recruits that were with me made it enjoyable, as well as the team and coaching staff. They helped make me fit in and the weather down there is perfect,” Kiaha said.
Katelyn and Kiaha are very thankful for their coaches throughout the years and how much they have helped them grow inside and outside of swimming.
“My biggest inspiration is my coaches. Both my high school coach, Tony Edmondson, and my club coach, Aaron Workman have pushed me to be the best version of myself in and out of the water. Without their help, I would not have been able to get where I am today,” Katelyn said.
Kiaha’s biggest inspiration from a young age is her teammates and coach, they inspire her to do her best.
“I’m surrounded by amazing and talented people that help me want to become better and it’s filled with positivity,” Kiaha said.
As their senior season is wrapping up they are both going to miss their teammates and coaches, and they have the same goal to become district champs a fourth time and to make it to states.
