The Bellefonte Boys Lacrosse season has commenced, and Bellefonte High’s junior standout, Ryder Hamilton, has wasted no time making his mark.
Following an astonishing sophomore campaign netting 59 goals and 19 assists, bringing his career goal total to 87, Ryder has seamlessly transitioned into his junior season.
On Thursday, March 21, Hamilton achieved a significant milestone by scoring his 100th career goal on the varsity playing field, only three games into his junior season. This accomplishment makes him the first player in Bellefonte Boys Lacrosse history to reach the 100-goal mark.
“I am extremely honored! This has been a goal of mine for a long time now, and there’s no better feeling than finally accomplishing that,” Ryder said.
Ryder’s journey to this milestone was marked by his exceptional start to the 2024 lacrosse season, including a five-goal display in their season opener against Wyoming Seminary on March 16. Followed by a stellar performance in his games against Danville and Selinsgrove on March 19 and 21. Tallying a combined eight goals and four assists in those two games. Moving him past the 100-goal line, fulfilling a long-standing personal goal of his.
Beyond his on-field excellence, Hamilton’s leadership qualities and relentless work ethic have shined throughout his three years on the varsity team. Achieving the role of team captain by his teammates and coaches this year has only made his leadership and hard work ethic abilities more evident.
“Ryder’s leadership over the past three years has impacted our team tremendously. He pushes us to work hard and gets the best out of all of us,” junior teammate Nate Benner said.
With plenty of games left on the season, Hamilton looks to continue its success on the field in his junior season.
“There’s a lot of season left. It’s important for me to continue working hard in practice and getting one percent better every day,” Ryder said.
In addition to Ryder’s impressive start to the 2024 lacrosse season, he played a vital role on the Bellefonte Boys Basketball team this winter, where he had an imposing junior season averaging 7.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game.
As Ryder looks ahead, he plans to continue his lacrosse journey at the collegiate level, as he actively explores his options and pursues his athletic aspirations.
