Senior Cedric Bagwell is one of the most familiar faces to students and staff at BAHS, and that’s all because of his involvement in student activities and his personality.
Cedric is a swimmer for Bellefonte High and an active member in our school’s community. He has worked very hard in the past four years, juggling sports and school work all at the same time. He has done laps in the pool and school to get where he is now, and he earned it all through hard work and determination.
After graduating, Cedric plans to attend college.
“I would like to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering with a possible double major in poli sci,” he said.
He has many hobbies and interests that he spends time on in and out of school. He is a busy person who focuses on extracurricular activities and studies.
“I participate [as a] School Board Representative, Student Council officer, Drama treasurer and cohead of hair and makeup, Spanish Honor Society treasurer, GSA president, boys swim team captain, NHS member, officer of a local robotics team, and student member of the district health and wellness committee,” he said.
Within all of these activities, his best memories come from his time in Drama.
“My favorite memory in Drama was competing in a hair and makeup competion with my friends at the PA State Theater conference, and in sports was the bus ride/police escort back from districts this year.”
Senior Lizzie Cogan has known Cedric for a long time, and she admires the work he puts into life in and out of school.
“He has a lot of abilities that most people don’t see, and it’s really cool what he can do,” she said.
She believes Cedric has had a rather impactful presence at Bellefonte.
“Cedric is the School Board representative as well as involved in many clubs. He has done a lot for everyone and the community. People in Drama love him for his attitude and funny charm,” Lizzie said.
She has a lot of memories with Cedric and has a lot of fun times with him through the years of friendship.
“When I got him and another friend lost in a corn maze. Not intentionally, of course, but it was funny to me. There is also other times where I have been at his house and we have chatted by a fire. Those were fun as well,” she said.
Science teacher Mr. Chris Freidhoff remembers the special moment when Cedric nominated him at Senior Night as one of his favorite teachers at Bellefonte.
“One of the best parts of teaching is seeing our students appreciate your class and the challenges you put them through. Every time a student thanks me or gives me a ‘shout out’ always makes my day,” he said.
He sees a bright future for Cedric as he has seen him work long and hard, in his class and throughout his years at the high school.
“I love when students reach for the stars and show others that they can go for their goals. Cedric will be a graduate that future students can look up to and see that they can achieve anything they want to as long as they work for it,” Mr. Freidhoff said.
As Cedric prepares to leave BAHS this June, he shares a piece of advice with the underclassmen.
“Try everything! The worst that can happen is you know what not to do next time,” Cedric said.
