Happy Valley had some big names come to the Bryce Jordan Center (BJC) this year, like Travis Scott, Zach Bryan, and Drake. Another big name is still to come to Beaver Stadium, when Luke Combs will appear at the end of the month.
On January 14, the first big name came to Happy Valley: Travis Scott. He left his mark inside the BJC by preforming his most popular song “FE!N” 10 times. And the crowd loved it.
Sophomore Wyatt Long attended the concert on the night of January 14, and was really hyped up by the opener and thought it stayed hyped through the whole night.
“The opening was really hype and stayed hype throughout the entire night, the most hype moments were between when Travis came out and when he played ‘FE!N.’ That personally was my favorite part, when he played ‘FE!N’ like 20 times. It’s a banger!” Wyatt said.
He also liked to add a once in a lifetime opportunity gone wrong that went down at the concert. During the show, an AI-generated voice kept announcing “we need to select someone” over and over again. The next thing Wyatt knew, a light had landed on him.
“Little back story, I am not the tallest person out there. So I am weaving my way through the crowd, I am about to hop the rail where he told me to and boom. Some random kid pushed me to the side and took my spot. I was so fuming. I never got my opportunity to be on stage,” Wyatt said.
The next featured performer at BJC was Zach Bryan on March 12. A bunch of our peers ar Bellefonte High went to the country concert, with one being junior Nate Benner.
“I’ll start at the beginning of the night, when his openers were Levi Turner and The Middle East, they were okay, didn’t love them, didn’t hate ‘em,” Nate said.
After Zach appeared on stage and opened with “Overtime,” which was Nate’s second favorite song of the night.
“My favorite song of the night, and the song he closed with, was ‘Revival’ because of how long he played it for and how loud the crowd was once the stated singing the song,” Nate shared.
Senior Jacob Corman went to Champagnepapi, (Drake) on March 31, when Drake took the stage in the BJC.
“His band was sick…my favorite part was watching Drake’s band walk out to ‘Trophies.’ The energy was unmatched. My favorite song he played was ‘Know Yourself.’ I loved that one because the crowd was so loud when he performed it, and they just sang the song off the mic it felt like,” Jacob said.
The last big name to come to Happy Valley is Luke Combs, who will perform on April 27 in Beaver Stadium. Junior Noah Weaver is going to Penn State’s football field to see the country star.
“I think he is going to open up with ‘Beautiful Crazy’ because it’s one if his best classic songs. I just think thats a good song to open up with. I also think he will close with ‘Fast Car’ because he got song of the year for that so I feel like that is a given that he closes with that song. It’s also my favorite song by Luke Combs,” Noah said.
