The Bellefonte Raiders baseball and softball teams have started off their seasons with some big wins to give them both solid records; the boys baseball team being 5-0 and the girls softball team being 4-2 to round out the first quarter of the spring sports season. Both teams are being led by seniors that have been putting up great numbers, which have been a big part of both teams’ success.
For the softball team, some of their big contributing seniors are Sienna Barnhart, Carley Clarkson, and Grace Novitsky. (Going to add some stats about each of the girls)
For the baseball team, some of their big contributing seniors are Trevor Johnson, Braedyn Kormanic, and Levi Purnell. Trevor has helped his team at the plate hitting for power and average as well as on the mound, he is typically used as a closer and shuts teams down to close out games. Braedyn has been a leader from behind the plate and has been on fire at the plate through the first five games. Levi has been a guy that pitchers do not want to pitch to, hitting clean up, he’s hitting for power and his on base percentage is through the roof.
Both the softball and baseball teams are satisfied with their impressive start to the season and are looking forward to keeping the pedal down all the way into the postseason.
“I am looking forward to what we are going to be able to accomplish this year. We’re off to a great start and as long as we win tight games I think we have a very good shot at winning another District Title,” junior Peyton Vancas said.
Not just the baseball players are looking forward to the rest of the season but also the softball players.
“I’ve really enjoyed this season so far and I’m looking forward to keeping it going. We have been playing very well as a team and it’s helping us maintain our winning record.” Said sophomore Maddy Lucas.
Both the baseball and softball programs have had significant histories that are full of success. Both of these talented programs are definitely living up to the standards so far this season, at least according to Carter Johnson who is an avid fan of both of these school sports.
“I’ve always enjoyed going out to the different Bellefonte sporting events to show support and see how each team is doing. This spring I have been going to a lot of baseball and softball games and both of these teams are starting off strong,” junior Carter Johnson said.
Both of these strong programs have set themselves up to do great things for Bellefonte athletics along with the entire community as a whole.
