Seniors had been waiting months for their final class trip. This year, about half of the Senior Class traveled to Boston, Massachusetts from April 18-20. They enjoyed a variety of activities that made the weekend memorable.
After weeks of planning, students got up early to board the bus on the six and a half hour trip, plus stops. Some students took the time to sleep, while others were too excited to snooze. The buses stopped on the way at Perkins to eat breakfast while setting up group chats with chaperones.
When the buses arrived in Boston, the group quickly gathered into Fenway Stadium, where they watched the Red Sox play against the Cleveland Guardians, with the Guardians winning 5-4. Many of the students enjoyed the game in sheltered seats or indoors while it rained. Afterward, the seniors had time to find dinner on their own before heading to the hotel.
The next day, the students had nearly the whole day to split into their own groups and explore Downtown Boston. The Downtown area offered many opportunities for students to explore. Groups visited local marketplaces, went on walks, biked around the city, visited monuments, watched street performers, and much more. There were a variety of interesting food options as well. Ben and Jerry’s, Starbucks, other cafes, seafood restaurants, and other establishments were all available to the groups throughout the day.
Senior Ivan Spigelmyer and his group spent a lot of his time shopping and doing fun activities.
“I went for the books and my group went clothes shopping and stuff. We also went to an escape room then some ice cream. We totally didn’t take the train anywhere,” he said.
Senior Trey Wagner enjoyed how much there was to see in the big city.
“On Friday, we spent some time at Quincy Market, looked for some record stores, and got lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant,” Trey said.
In the evening, the group wore nicer clothing for a nighttime dinner cruise around the harbor. The night’s most popular attraction was a dance floor and a DJ who played songs by request. Students danced and sang along to popular songs. The open decks of the ship allowed perfect pictures with a bright sunset and city lights.
Ivan found the cruise to be one of the best moments on the trip.
“My favorite part of the trip was probably anytime past the start of the cruise. I enjoyed the weather, the food, and the crazy dance party. Afterwards, I went for a very short swim in the ocean and we partied late into the night,” Ivan said.
On the last day, the group checked out of the hotel and visited the New England Aquarium, where they saw penguins, sea turtles, seals, and more. They also had time to explore more of Boston and find lunch, before getting on the buses and heading home. Leading up to their final months in high school, the Class of 2024 was sure to make some fun final memories with their friends.
