Not only are the students excited, but the staff at BAHS is also very excited for summer to shortly begin. Teachers have big plans to hang out with their family and relax, with plans ranging from vacations, to visiting old marine corps bases.
Current Science Trends and Environment Ecology teacher Mrs. Armani Davy is very ecstatic for the summer to begin. She is looking forward to relaxing and having fun with her family.
“I am most looking forward to spending time with my family and being able to slow down a little bit – not run on a set schedule and just relax and have fun,” Mrs. Davy said
Even though they won’t be in their classrooms, some teachers are going to still be doing things over the summer that are very similar to what they do in the classroom.
“I am looking forward to making ART and spending time with my family,” Mrs.Welsh said.
Agricultural science teacher Mrs. Myken Poorman has a really busy schedule over the summer, which includes still being at the school and interacting with students.
“I stay pretty busy over the summer at school because I tend our school gardens and have many FFA activities to continue doing. I have students who show animals at multiple fairs and shows, so I have to do all the farm/animal checks. All of that keeps me quite busy, but we do have a trip planned to Emerald Isle and the base my husband was stationed at when he was in the Marine Corps. We’re going to see an air show which is pretty cool,” Mrs. Poorman said.
Chemistry and Biology teacher Mrs. Drew Eddinger is excited to spend time with her children, Reed and Rex.
We have six different weekend vacations planned with family and different groups of friends,” Mrs. Eddinger said.
Math teacher Dr. Arianna Emel also has a vacation planned with her family.
“I am most looking forward to a beach trip to Ocean City, NJ with my family. It will be just the second time my children have experienced the beach, so I am excited to see their reactions,” Dr. Emel said.
Two of our history teachers, Dr. Matt Martin and Mr. Matt Maris, are both looking forward to the outdoors and even some teaching.
“I’m looking forward to enjoying the warm weather and being outdoors,” Dr. Martin said.
Mr. Maris will be hosting a number of historical walking tours with his local business, Local Historia.
“The tours are mostly in Bellefonte but have some planned for Altoona as well. These keep me busy and I also work on various video projects on local history. We try to do most of the filming during the summer. My wife, son and I also plan to go on some little vacations to see family, camp, and to visit some historic sites like Harpers Ferry, WV,” Mr. Maris said.
Our one and only Mr. Joshua Diehl, physical education teacher, is excited to ride fast all summer long, and even looks forward to competing.
“I’m looking forward to racing my motorcycle in the American Hard Enduro Series and National Enduro Series,” Mr. Diehl said.
One of our school guidance counselors, Mr. Drew Bryan, is exited to spend time with man’s best friend after working hard during his first year at BAHS.
“I am most looking forward to spending more time with my family and dog and cats, enjoying the nicer weather, and recharging my batteries for next school year…. Next year, it will feel good to have a fresh start and be more comfortable in my surroundings and more confident in my job tasks,” Mr. Bryan said.
