Senior Trevor Johnson has made a large impact at Bellefonte High School through his academics and sportsmanship. Trevor participates in baseball, basketball, and football, but his main focus will be baseball, as he will be attending Duke to pursue this passion.
He has made many memories throughout the time he has been in baseball, but there is one that takes the cake.
“My favorite sports memory was winning a Baseball State Championship. This run was definitely one to remember. Throughout all my history playing baseball across the country being able to compete at a high level with all my childhood best friends was my favorite sports memory I will ever have,” he said.
Baseball has been a major factor in Trevor’s life, and it has even helped to make him the person he is today.
“I have always been surrounded by the sport of baseball. Between always watching the Phillies growing up and playing backyard baseball with my family I have always loved the sport. It has became apart of my everyday life. It has taught me the values of hard work and contributed heavily to the person I am today.”
Trevor is fully committed to Duke for baseball, but also for the excellent academics they have to offer him as a school.
“I committed there because it has the best of both worlds, between academics and athletics. Being able to go to such a prestigious university allows me to accomplish academic excellence while also competing at a high level of athletics,” he said.
He wants kids to find their way in the world, and work hard for what they get in life.
“I urge kids to work hard and stay the course. Win in silence, make everyone think you’re losing,” he said.
Seventh grade Social Studies teacher and baseball coach Mr. Jonathan Clark has had many years of bonding with Trevor.
“Trevor has been with the Varsity team since his freshman year. His performance on the field has regularly put us in a position to win each and every game. During his time with us, Trevor has developed into a great leader. He has a tremendous work ethic and strives to be the hardest worker on the team,” he said.
Mr. Clark and his team are all impressed by Trevor and his way to lead a team to the finish line during even the toughest of games
“He has always been a great team player and truly embraces the ‘BIG WE, little me’ attitude that is key to our team’s success,” he said.
He has had the privilege of watching Trevor not only grow as a team member, but as an overall person.
“I think just being around Trevor, watching him work, watching him lead, watching him have fun with some of his best friends, and watching him be a great teammate for the last 4 years is something that I will forever remember and cherish when his HS season is over,” he said.
He even recalls a moment of laughter shared between the two of them, which they both still hold dear today.
“There is one funny moment we still laugh about where I had Trevor warming up to possibly go into the game (to pitch at some point, if needed), and when the half inning ended Trevor put himself in as pitcher (even though I had not planned for him to go in). By the time I realized that he had put himself in the game, it was too late and we just rolled with it. We did end up winning the game,” he said.
Senior Jacob Corman, a close friend of Trevor, has many memories especially on the field throughout the years.
“Some of my fondest memories revolve around the countless hours Trevor and I spent on the baseball fields and basketball courts together. Building a close friendship with Trevor over the years has been a blessing. I’ve been able to go on so many fun adventures and experiences with him that have created lifelong memories,” he said.
He has seen Trevor become not only a good team player, but also a better person during their time together.
“His unwavering dedication to baseball is a testament to the power hard work and perseverance has. Beyond his talent, his leadership and passion for the sport is something that stands out the most. His constant positivity will leave a lasting impression wherever he goes,” he said.
