Approaching the end of the 2024 football season, number 50, Logan Rarrick stands out as a big threat on both sides of the ball.
Only a junior, Logan has been chosen as captain for the season by coaches and teammates for his good sportsmanship and his unwavering commitment to the team. He is described as a selfless, resilient, and coachable athlete, as well as a pleasure to have on the team.
“He is the epitome of what we look for in a leader,” Head Coach Tony Confer said.
During his twelfth year as a Raider football player, Logan has earned the “Golden Hammer” award for grading out as the highest offensive linemen three times this season. He is a key reason that Bellefonte football is averaging over 200 rushing yards this year. On defense Logan has 37 tackles, leading the team in tackles for both loss and sacks.
“Logan is a hard worker and you’ll never catch him giving up on anything,” teammate Liam Halterman said.
Logan cherishes the game almost as much as he enjoys being around his teammates. Not only does he make sure he is performing to his best ability, but he is always trying to keep the team’s focus on the important things like having a good practice and staying positive throughout the week. Role models are essential to the success of any team, Logan’s relationship with his teammates is nothing short of special.
“My favorite part about being a part of a team is the brotherhood it builds and the fact that we have each other’s back no matter what,” Logan said.
This year, the Raider football team beat their rivals, the Bald Eagles, for the first time in five years, taking back the Curtin Bowl Trophy. Just a week later the boys held on to the Luther Trophy after beating Philipsburg-Osceola 43-0. During both games the 6’3’ defensive end and offensive linemen made game-changing plays, which led to his first ever career win against Bald Eagle High.
“My favorite experience was beating Bald Eagle this year in week six and taking the Curtain Bowl back,” Logan said.
Bellefonte’s football team is full of talent this year, and Logan is no exception. Off the field Logan takes part in the National Honor Society and the Bellefonte Wrestling team. Not only is he an eye-catching athlete, but he also excels in academics.
“He is a really good kid who works his butt off every day. Logan is also a great student-athlete and human being,” Coach Confer said.
In the future Logan plans on attending college for environmental science or wildlife biology. He hopes to earn a scholarship to further his athletic career at his selected college.
“He definitely has the potential to play at the collegiate level,” Liam said.
As he continues to excel on and off the field, fans, friends, and locals look forward to watching Logan achieve his full potential. We can expect to see big things from number 50 on both sides of the ball.
