Class of 2025 senior Austin Smith is an athlete and academic. He is involved in Class Cabinet, NHS, soccer, lacrosse, and is president of Ski Club. Austin Smith has shown his dedication to Bellefonte High School both in and outside of school. With one last year in front of him, Austin has much to share with us.
No thanks to luck, Austin gets to go out with a last “hurrah” in soccer after winning a district title, for only the second time in Bellefonte boys soccer history. Finishing up soccer, as team captain, Austin says that he is most looking forward to “one last season” with the lacrosse team. Of course, in between this he gets to enjoy his last go around as Ski Club president.
As a member of Class Cabinet as well, Austin has had to learn how to balance his full schedule, and has advice for underclassmen.
“Challenge yourself and take classes you’re interested in,” Austin said. As the hardworking student we see today, he seems to have no regrets in choosing his workload.
Throughout his time at Bellefonte, Austin has grown from the little freshman he entered as, into the hardworking student we see today. He seems to have no regrets in choosing his workload.
“I have developed better life habits, better communication skills, and I have become a better leader… and time management skills,” he said.
If he had to choose one regret, it would be not joining soccer sooner. Austin started in only his sophomore year and thinks he would have benefited from starting earlier in middle school.
Out of all the classes that Austin has taken, he finds his favorite to have “definitely” been Video Production with Mrs. Carla Cipro. As his teacher in Video, and manager for the morning announcements, where Austin is often seen on the weather, Mrs. Cipro finds Austin to be, “always willing to do what is needed and is almost always in a good mood.”
“Austin is a great young man… I’m happy to have known him the last four years!” Mrs. Cipro said.
Austin must have liked her class, just as much as she does him.
After high school, Austin plans to attend Point Park University where he hopes to further himself academically and continue playing lacrosse.
Bellefonte High School was lucky to have Austin Smith and soon Point Park University will be too.
