On November 6, Bellefonte High hosted their annual family STEAM night. For many people that is a big day on the calendar. People from all around Bellefonte come together to take a look at this amazing science fair.
Key organizer, science teacher Mrs. Drew Eddinger, was very happy with the turnout for the event.
“I was excited to see a variety of students; from our Raider Preschool, all the way up to our high school. I thought that we had an amazing lineup of activities/presenters also, so there really was something for everyone,” she said.
To some people, this night is a night of joy, giving them the opportunity to showcase their knowledge of science with the activities they planned.
“This event is special to me because I love seeing the kids happy and engaging with them in activities that are fun, while they are also learning,” sophomore Jamesyn Kelleher said.
There are many key parts to this event, whether it’s the kids being amazed by the exhibits, or the proud teens who have the chance to showcase their work. One of the best parts of this event is the connection that our school makes with community members.
“We had local businesses attend this year, including Brick Studio, Rooted Farmstead, and Restek. My brother works for ARL at Penn State, so he was also there hosting an activity. It was really fun for him and I to work together during this event. My ultimate favorite part, though, was getting to enjoy the activities with my two sons and share my love of science with them,” Mrs. Eddinger said.
Students have volunteered to help keep this event running smoothly ever since the beginning. Jamesyn plans on helping with this event until he graduates.
“I volunteered last year and this year. We had a great time explaining the activities to the kids and seeing the smiles on their faces. I hope the event keeps expanding, I’ve already seen the growth from last year,” he said.
