Ava McNeal is an outstanding senior at Bellefonte High. She has immersed herself into many different clubs, maintains excellent grades, and is a friend to many. She is kind to everyone she comes across and is dedicated to helping others.
Ava has been involved in Drama Club since her freshman year of high school and is now a student director. Drama Club quickly became Ava’s favorite clubs because of the welcoming and positive atmosphere it provides.
“Drama provides a space for anyone to just be anyone, which after a long day is really nice. I am very sad that it is my last year. It feels like I am leaving this big family behind and leaving a lot of my friends,” she said.
Ava has been in Key Club for three years and is currently president. As president she has recruited new members, created projects, and overall leads the club. She has helped lead service projects like fundraisers for charities, volunteering for local elementary schools, and helping out with fairs and workshops.
“Being the Key Club President means so much to me! Being the president allows me to help the community in many positive ways through the club.”
Ava has also been involved in Raider Revolution for the past three years and School Safety Club for two years. She always inspires others to stay positive, kind, and safe at Bellefonte High while serving in these roles, and looks forward to seeing a positive change for her school. She enjoys that both clubs are beneficial in their own ways, and she loves the acts of kindness she gets to perform.
“Through Raider Revolution we write shout-outs that us kids in the club can write to anyone in the school to send a positive note. Then through Student Safety we help organize different activities to try to stop drug and alcohol abuse and different little projects to help make the school feel a little safer,” she said.
Reading Specialist Mrs. Sarah Rodgers is one of the advisors for Raider Revolution. She recognizes how dedicated Ava is and has loved getting to know her.
“She has been an essential member of our Raider Revolution student team. Her leadership and innovation have helped take our team to new levels,” Mrs. Rodgers said.
After high school, Ava plans to attend Shippensburg University to study elementary education with a potential minor in science. Ava will continue to stay true to others throughout college, and encourages others to do the same.
