Jackson Long is known for many things, but his skills on the football field are what truly shine the brightest. The atmosphere of his athleticism, paired with his strong character traits are what set Jackson apart from the rest.
The 2024 Bellefonte football season was truly one to remember. The team, composed of many returning players, won game after game, pummeling their way to a district championship matchup. Unfortunately, the game would result in a loss, but the season overall was an incredible comeback compared to the prior losing streak.
Jackson has been at the forefront of the comeback however, as teammates and coaches have both commended him on his efforts.
“Jackson is a leader by example on the field. He quietly does his thing. As I stated before, he knows how to get our secondary right on Friday nights,” Coach Confer said.
This attitude towards Jackson has also helped drive his athletic status as a two way player. Jackson has consistently been a focal point of the Bellefonte defense, as his ability to organize the team as well as playing his position with confidence has led to him becoming one of the best players for Bellefonte.
Jackson’s additions to the team have not gone unnoticed, and teammates have all agreed upon his contributions.
“He is one of the best defensive players on the team. He helps the team win, and I honestly don’t know where we would be without him,” teammate senior Austin Irvin said.
Aside from the pure athleticism, Bellefonte sports pride themselves on sportsmanship and good attitude; none of which Jackson seems to lack. Jackson has always set the tone with his leadership skills as well as his discipline and respect for other teammates, coaches, officials, and opposing schools.
The restructuring of the team’s coaches was likely a factor in their success, and many players have agreed that the new coaches have taken a good approach to improving the team.
“I love the coaches, all of the coaches this year made the season enjoyable and a lot of fun,” Jackson said.
All of these factors have led to one of the most successful seasons in recent Bellefonte history, but it was Jackson’s skills and strengths that have contributed to not only the defense but the outcomes of almost every game in the season.
