On November 23, 2016, Disney released one of their best movies yet. Moana , spoken by American actress and singer Auli’l Cravalho, is the daughter of a village chief living on the island of Motunui. 

“Moana is a daughter of the chief of her tribe. Coming from a long line of navigators she sets off for a fabled island with the demigod Maui. Along the voyage they battle all which the ocean hides, while learning what the power of persistence and faith can accomplish,” according to IMDB.  

On November 27 of this year, Disney finally released a sequel, Moana 2,  being one of their best yet. 

In the newly released Moana 2, Moana journeys to the far away seas of Oceania after receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors.

Throughout the movie, many new characters were introduced like Simea, Moana’s little sister. Many of them were a part of Moana’s wayfinding team. These include Loto, the team’s architect. Kele, a farmer who brings crops and cares for them while on the water. And Moni, a designated storyteller of Motunui’s history.

They are working against Matangi, a goddess of the underworld. Nalo, a powerful storm God protecting the cursed island of MotuFetu.

Through the movie, Moana and her new crew have to work together to take down monsters in order to find the lost island of MotuFetu and break its curse. 

The lost island of Motufetu was cursed by the God of storms, Nalo. Nalo wanted full power over all mortals, so he sunk the island down to the depths of the ocean, causing islands to be separated from one another. 

Overall, this movie is a great choice for children from ages 5 and up. It introduces friendship, action, overcoming challenges together, and adventure.
