Bellefonte High warmly welcomes the return of alumni Mrs. Andrea Royer as our new Life Skills teacher.
After she graduated from Bellefonte High, she earned her Masters in Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She later taught at Ridgeview Academy Charter School for a few years before taking on a position working with at-risk youth with a mental health diagnosis. She then found her way back to Bellefonte High through our Special Education Department.
“I’ve worked with adults with special needs for about 13 years, and have been working on my Special Education degree for the past year. Bellefonte has a great Special Education Department and really talented teachers. I am thrilled to be a part of that group!” Mrs. Royer said.
Mrs. Royer enjoys the upbeat and passionate spirit of Bellefonte High’s students and staff. She enjoys working with students who strive to become the best versions of themselves, while working alongside teachers who care deeply about their students and the materials they are teaching. She looks forward to watching her students grow into the concepts they are learning and later apply them in their own lives.
“I believe every student can learn and has potential, but we have to find their passion and how they learn, which I think we all believe. I love to do a lot of hands-on work; practical, functional applications for my Life Skills students, so that when they leave BAHS they have the skills and knowledge they need to become part of our community and workforce in the best possible way for them,” Mrs. Royer said.
Art teacher Mrs. Erin Welsh often has Mrs. Royer’s class and has worked with her often.
“Mrs. Royer is a wonderful addition to our school. She entered this teaching job with patience, a deep sense of care, and a desire to help her students flourish. Her students in the Transition classroom are lucky to have her!” Mrs. Welsh said.
Bellefonte High is very lucky to have such a wonderful alumni return to their staff, and are excited to see her fill this positions with such passion.
