In his last year of high school wrestling, senior Noah Weaver joins the 100 win club with a 4-0 decision victory in the quarter finals of the Conestoga Valley Holiday Classic tournament. Scoring 100 Varsity wins is a big achievement for any high school wrestler, especially in PA, arguably the hardest wrestling state in the country.
The match started off with a stagnant 1st period, 0-0 for the first 1:30. In the 2nd period, Noah would take the down position, escaping quickly to make the score 1-0 in favor of Noah. Later in the period he would get a late takedown to widen the lead to 4-0. In the 3rd, his opponent would take bottom in hopes of getting an escape but Noah would ride him out for the entirety of the last period, securing the victory for that big 100th win.
“I knew I was likely to get my 100th win going into that tournament and it had always been a big goal of mine so when I got that win it meant so much, it gave me the opportunity to look back and appreciate all the hard work I’ve put into the sport of wrestling,” Noah said.
After this win, he stamped his name in Bellefonte history, becoming the 21st Bellefonte wrestler to achieve the 100 win mark, along with other extremely notable wrestlers such as Mitchel Port, Ethan Rossman, Jude Swisher, and many others.
As far as college goes, Noah doesn’t plan on wrestling at the collegiate level but he says he is, “keeping his options open.”
Noah has contributed largely to the success of the Bellefonte wrestling team over his past 4 years and his efforts to do so are greatly appreciated by the wrestling community. Earning 100 wins is one of the biggest accomplishments in high school wrestling and Noah Weaver is now a proud member of this club.
