“I really like talking about math all day,” Geometry teacher Mrs. Ashley Fisher said.
This sums her up as a math-loving, dedicated, determined teacher.
Mrs. Fisher participated in an exchange program during her junior year. She was in the German Honors Society throughout high school. Her senior year, she became president of the honors society. She traveled to Germany for ten days, and even got a scholarship through DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and studied for a month in the summer of 2015 at Lutherstadt-Wittenberg.
“It was an incredible experience and a time when I was completely on my own and had to rely on my German language skills. I would love to go back to Germany again,” she said.
Another incredible experience she has every day is interacting with the students. She enjoys seeing students grow throughout the years. She gladly took the job of teaching geometry here at Bellefonte and quickly fit right in.
“I had Mrs. Fisher for geometry my sophomore year. I describe her as funny, easy to talk to, and a great person all-around,” senior Brooke Bucha said.
Mrs. Fisher is often described as extremely funny, understanding, and kind. Past students are always in her room because they miss her and the fun they used to have in class.
“My favorite memory is when we go in her classroom before period 11 and just get to talk to her for a few minutes,” sophomore Madison Kellogg said.
She is truly a beloved and kind teacher to anyone who needs help. Some students might find it hard to imagine if she had not decided to be a teacher.
“I had plans to be a large animal vet but after a disastrous job shadow where I passed out…I had to come up with another plan,” Mrs. Fisher said.
Although her dream of becoming a vet didn’t work out, she had a backup plan. She was a good student in school and her teachers noticed and admired that. She continues to help students grow and gives them as much assistance as they need.
“Her teaching style was very self-paced so I didn’t feel stressed to go at anyone else’s pace, which helped me learn the information better,” Madison said.
While Mrs. Fisher seems to have lots of free time in school, her life outside school is a different story. She is a big family person and constantly hangs out with her husband and kids. When she does have some free time, she enjoys reading and cross-stitching.
Students from all grade levels have built relationships with Mrs. Fisher. Many memories have been made, inside jokes have been told, and math questions have been answered.
“I enjoyed visiting Mrs. Fisher’s class during Raider period this year, whether I was helping with random tasks or just chatting. Even though I’m no longer in her class, she’s always willing to help with any math homework I need help with,” sophomore Abigail Haas said.
Overall, students love Mrs. Fisher and her teaching style. She is a great teacher and person, and Bellefonte is glad to have her.
