On Sunday, February 9, Super Bowl 59 took place in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event featured a long-awaited match up between the back-to-back Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs who were looking for a three peat versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Kansas City Chiefs would defeat the Buffalo Bills by a final score of 32-29, allowing the Chiefs to continue on despite many believing their run was gonna come to an end in the AFC championship game to the Bills.
The Philadelphia Eagles would face the Washington Commanders, who haven’t seen a game this big in a long time but they have been on fire after taking down the #1 seed in the NFC Detroit Lions. However, the Commanders would fall to the Eagles by a large margin of 55-23.
This would set up the highly anticipated match up between these two teams where many thought it would be a relatively close game between the two powerhouse teams and many thought the Chiefs would be victorious.
However, for the Chiefs, that would not be the case as the Philadelphia Eagles would be all gas no brakes after their NFC championship domination over the Commanders on offense and defense with star Quarterback Jalen Hurts finding Wide Receivers AJ Brown and Devonta Smith for big plays and touchdowns, as the Chiefs defense was more focused on that big rushing attack from star running back Saquon Barkley.
On the opposite side of the ball, the Eagles’ defense would force the Chiefs’ Quarterback run for his life and throw some pretty unusual passes for him, where he would get picked off early by rookie Defensive Back Cooper Dejean, who housed it for a pick six and another pick by linebacker Zack Baun setting the Eagles up in the red zone.
The Eagles would go on to dominate the Chiefs for yet another big win with a final score of 40-22 earning their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history.
