With a resume of almost every academic club in the school, ranging from Future Business Leaders of America “FBLA” to Spanish Honors Society, Christian Larson has truly put in the hours in his four years at Bellefonte High School. With his senior year coming to a close in only a couple of months there is much to look back on.
Christian is a member of Student Council, Class Cabinet, National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, Academic Decathlon, the Raider Corner, and is secretary of FBLA. Outside of school, he is the Junior Council Member of the Borough of Bellefonte. All of these clubs require Christian to dedicate time outside of school, especially the Bellefonte Borough. His ability to multi-task has done him well in the past years.
On top of all his extracurriculars, he has enrolled in 12 AP classes.
“Challenging myself with rigorous coursework has helped me grow both intellectually and personally, making me a more well-rounded and knowledgeable person,” Christian said.
His AP Stat teacher, Mrs. Sue Besch, recalls Christian being so worried about completing his work, but then always finishing with great grades.
“I would love to bundle his energy and tap into it every day. He definitely has extra to share,” Mrs. Besch said.
She added that Christian consistently brought a “pleasant, light-hearted, and engaging atmosphere” to statistics.
Christian was able to connect his extracurricular work to his school work when he mentioned an issue to the Bellefonte Borough Council about the issues surrounding the new transit system from Bellefonte to State College. People in Bellefonte could no longer get to their jobs in State College. Christian inspired Mrs. Besch to help a student at Bellefonte who couldn’t get to his job over the summer by driving him herself.
During his last months at Bellefonte, Christian had many Senior Class events to look forward to.
“I am especially excited about our senior trip!” Christian said.
Their class chose to go to Washington D.C.
But, Chistian’s favorite memory of all in high school, “although McDermit may not like it,” Christian said, is all of the school trips he has taken to New York with friends. These trips are often a privilege, and Christian have taken full advantage of it.
High School is more than just difficult classes. It gives you a chance to meet many different people. A friend Christian entered High School with and will be leaving with is Madisyn Breon.
“He has an amazing personality that makes any class fun no matter how difficult the subject is,” Madisyn said.
She recalls numerous times where her and Christian made their work fun with silly acronyms to remember material for classes.
With friends like Madisyn surrounding him, Christian has developed a positive attitude. To any rising underclassmen, Christian says, “don’t take things too seriously, and don’t stress over the little things!”
Next year, Christian will be expanding his boundaries to Penn State where he plans to major in Pre-Medicine. Bellefonte can’t wait to see what his positive attitude and work ethic will bring to the medical field!
