Varsity Cheerleader, National Honor Society member, Class Cabinet treasurer, Student Council member, and lacrosse player Senior Alannah McNichol has big aspirations for after high school. Graduation is on her mind, and she is excited to get out into the world.
She plans on attending Mount Aloysius College, where she will study the ultrasound health field, majoring in medical sonography. At Mount Aloysius, she will continue to play lacrosse.
“I am so proud of Alannah for accomplishing her dreams of playing lacrosse in college at Mount Aloysius,” senior Sydney Fletcher said.
Lacrosse has been a big part of Alannah’s life. She has a strong passion for lacrosse, she loves how fast the game is and the communication that is important to make the game go well. There are quick transitions, switches from offense to defense, and nonstop movement.
“My coaches and family make me want to play. These people push me to be the best I can be and seeing them smile after my teammates and I have accomplished a goal makes me so happy,” Alannah said.
Lacrosse has helped Alannah to ask for help and realize you can’t do everything yourself. The next step for her journey in lacrosse is to teach little kids in a program how to play lacrosse better. She is extremely excited to be involved in this program while doing what she loves most.
Big aspirations like Alannah’s need to be supported to be successful. Her mom has been her greatest support throughout high school, and her whole life. Whether her mom is helping her with a school project, or a tough time mentally, she is always there for her.
“She is always there to support me and help me whenever I need it whether it is with school work or friends,” Alannah said.
Not only does she have a great support system at home but also lovely friends who are with her through thick and thin. Senior Dilya Hockenberry has been friends with Alannah since they were only weeks old.
Dilya is so proud of her and her accomplishments as a person, she’s an excellent role model, won homecoming queen, has a heart of gold, and is honest and empathetic.
“Truthfully she is an amazing person, all around. To know her is to love her, and an opportunity so wonderful is not one anyone should take for granted,” Dilya said.
Alannah is a kind, compassionate, friendly individual who is going to go far. With motivation, a good support system, and passion Alannah has nothing stopping her from becoming who she wants to be.
