Exiting his junior season of Bellefonte Wrestling, seventeen year-old Ezra Swisher takes the mat as one of PA’s top competitors.
Wrestling in the 152 lb weight class, Ezra holds a record of 31-1, with a career record of 106-27. Recently, he was named the 21st Bellefonte Wrestler to achieve 100 wins. Ezra’s passion and dedication towards wrestling prove his title to be hard-earned.
“Ezra is a very hard worker and puts a lot of time into the sport outside of the wrestling season. He is always trying to find ways to get better,” Head Coach and History Teacher Mr. Michael Maney said.
Growing up in a wrestling family, Ezra has built a strong foundation on confidence, skill, and effort. He is known for putting in the maximum amount of effort to achieve his titles. Recently, Ezra climbed the podium at the PIAA Districts achieving second place in his weight class.
As Ezra approaches his senior year, his athletic and academic commitment have the potential to take him on several paths – from academic scholarships to collegiate sports. Assuming Ezra remains steady throughout his senior season, he will have a lot of offered opportunities.
“Ezra has the potential to make the podium at the PIAA State Championships. If he earns a medal, this will certainly open a lot of options for him. Ezra also excels in education. I’m confident he will have a bunch of options,” Mr. Maney said.
Going into his senior year, Bellefonte students and staff expect to see Ezra surpass great rankings and expectations within the wrestling world. With his talent, leadership, and sheer work ethic, we are confident that Ezra has the potential to take his wrestling career anywhere he chooses.
