Leader. Responsible. Kind. These are all words used to describe Sydney Fletcher, a senior at Bellefonte High School. She is an honor student and a captain of the Cheer team. She led her team recently in Florida at the national cheer competition and has played a big part in Bellefonte High’s cheer squad in her past four years at Bellefonte.
“Sydney is dedicated to her team and teammates and always respectful. She is an incredible leader. She takes time to help each of her teammates and also is a great role model, always showing her kindness,” Coach “Skip” Headings said.
Although it is a hard job, Sydney seems to be handling it with ease.
“Being leader of the cheer team is challenging, leading the team to success and improvement, providing the team with all information (what to wear, what time, practices, reminders, cheer tips),” Sydney said.
She also excels in the classroom as well, being an honor student while taking AP level courses.
“Sydney is probably one of the smartest people I know. She is very driven in her sport and in her academics and it shows,” junior Makenna Williams said.
She recalls some of her favorite memories with the cheer team and says she will miss her time cheering with Bellefonte.
“I would describe this past year as exciting and memorable and I am going to miss all the great memories I have made,” Sydney said.
“Sydney is a true student athlete. She dedicates her time to her grades and everything she is involved in,” Coach Headings said.
After her time in high school, Sydney plans to further her education at the Salon Professional Academy Beauty School in Altoona for Cosmetology.
