Bellefonte has produced some incredible athletes, with one of those talented stars being Class of 2024 graduate, Trevor Johnson. He tore up on the baseball field for Bellefonte and won a PIAA Class 4A Championship; but he didn’t stop there. Being able to play college baseball is very rare for some people; there are only 36,000 college baseball players combined with all D1, D2, and D3 levels.
Trevor is nothing short of fantastic and he has so much support and love coming his way. Trevor’s father, physical education teacher at BAMS and also Bellefonte’s Mayor, Mr. Buddy Johnson had so many things to say about his son’s accomplishments.
“I am very proud of my son Trevor and all of his accomplishments. The thing I am most proud of is the fact that he not only dedicated himself to the sport of baseball, but to his academic achievements as well. Because he realized the importance of being a student first and then an athlete, he has an incredible opportunity to get a Duke education and play baseball at the highest level,” Mr. Johnson said.
Being a D1 baseball player is hard to come by let alone just making it to D2 or D3. What may seem impossible for some athletes was Trevor’s way of life. His courage to the diamond is unmatched and it shows.

“I would say it’s been nonstop work and dedication to become a D1 athlete. It didn’t just happen overnight; it has taken years of dedication and hard work to get where I am today. This also took a great support system around me to thrive,” Trevor said.
Bellefonte has produced some great athletes and Trevor is one of the top names on that list he now has a coveted achievement of being one of the best to come out of Bellefonte and go D1. For those that don’t know, D1 stands for district one. It is the highest level of college sports that an athlete can go to from colleges like Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Pitt, even Alabama. The list goes on and on but the risks and sacrifices you need to make to get to this high level are nothing like you´ve ever done before. From the diamond in high school to the diamond in college there is at least one big difference
“One main difference between the Duke team and the Bellefonte team is that there is a higher level of competition every day. At the D1 level, everyone has talent and it takes hard work to separate yourself from others. Both teams have great team cultures, allowing guys to excel on and off the field,” Trevor said.
Over the years there have been so many obstacles to jump and so many things gained and lost. So many people are proud of him.
Even though he has left Bellefonte, he still has a big impact in the area today. Leaving so many good memories and fantastic stats he’s done it all and he hasn’t stopped yet. Let’s just say he’s not stopping anytime soon.
