Bellefonte High senior Tate Tooker is everything from an accomplished athlete to an honor student.
As his high school years come to a close, Tate resembles a role model in not only his academics and athletics, but also his aspirations. Tate is a member of the Bellefonte High boys soccer team, Raider Revolution, Ski Club, Club Soccer, and National Honor Society. Within these extracurriculars, he has been shaped into the student, athlete, and inspiration that Bellefonte loves to see.
“These activities have helped me by forcing me to be responsible, work in a team, and they have given me countless friendships,” Tate said.
If you were to ask people around the school what Tate brings to the community, most of them would say that his ambitious and caring personality lights up every room he walks into. He demonstrates exceptional sportsmanship on the field and in the classroom.
“I would want people to remember the positive and fun impact I had on the people around me. No matter who I was with, we always had a good time,” Tate said.
Though he was a major part of the boys soccer team snagging the district title, Tate will not peak in high school. He plans on furthering his academic career at Penn State University where he will study economics.
“The most important thing I have learned is to be grateful and take advantage of your opportunities,” Tate said.
On top of all his extracurricular activities, Tate is a highly respected captain. His coaches describe him as a leader that is always willing to listen and learn; as well as one of the most coachable, passionate players they’ve had the pleasure to work with.
“His freshman year he worked so hard during preseason to make varsity so he could play with his brother his senior year. Not only did he make varsity, but he earned a starting spot,” Head Coach Scott Martz said.
Continuing through his time at Bellefonte High, Tate continued to make the growth of the team’s skill his priority. After a tough loss during the district championship his junior year, fans, coaches, and teammates were ecstatic to see Tate lead the team to the district title during the last game on his home turf. Senior Andy Gerasenko and Tate have been close teammates since freshman year which has allowed them to share many memorable experiences.
“[He] comforted me after the district title like a real captain,” senior Andy Geraskeno said.
As graduation approaches, friends, family, and community members look forward to seeing everything Tate will achieve. With his athletic talents and academic excellence, Tate will strive to make a positive impact in all his future endeavors, as he has at Bellefonte.
