Blake Shelton? The legendary country singer, songwriter, and celebrity judge on The Voice recently came to the BJC marking the last stop on the “Friends and Heroes” tour.
Prior to Shelton taking the stage, attending fans were treated to a strong opening performance by Emily Ann Roberts which consisted of songs like “Easy Does It” and “Whole Lotta Little.” Additionally, Robert’s unique spin on legendary Dolly Parton song “Nine to Five” made wakes amongst the crowd.
As the lights dim, and the anticipation grows Shelton runs onto the stage to the tune of a roaring crowd, immediately dialing up the intensity by playing “Pour me a drink”, a song in which he was featured in the new Post Malone album. Shelton, performing his mix of new and old songs dazzled the crowd with his opening acts and stunning visuals. Not just a singer, but an entertainer, Shelton was seen interacting with the crowd and notably, the on stage bar that featured a variety of high ranking celebrities. During the concert, Shelton continued his mix of jokes, bits, and all around showmanship.
In keeping with his country roots, Shelton performed a number of songs that topped the charts, while still delivering on his famous southern charm. Fans listened to the wide variety of country subgenres played throughout the concert, with songs ranging from “Some beach” to “Ole Red”. Amongst the cheers and infectious energy, Shelton employed his ability to transition seamlessly between songs, and constantly engage with the audience at a heartfelt level.
“I really liked the lights and the experience of the concert. Everything just came together, and made for a night I’ll never forget,” a student concert goer said.
Overall, the concert was the tip of the iceberg in what was one of Shelton’s most successful tours to date. From Nashville to Albany, the Friends and Heroes tour sold out venues, created lifelong memories, and had lots of laughs.
