Canadian singer and performer Tate McRae releases a new pop album titled So Close To What that leaves hundreds of fans speechless.
Not long into the new year, the 21 year old pop-star released a 16 track album that would raise the bar for all artists releasing new music in 2025. Being exposed to many music genres during her dance career, Tate gets her inspiration from her favorite 2000’s pop tracks; she combines them with modern styles to create her authentic songs, while still keeping them relevant to girls growing up in the 2020s.
The new album features an array of songs ranging from teenage crushes, to heartbreak, to the captivating hold of a girl’s first love. Unlike other artists, Tate had an exceptional dance career throughout her childhood that she incorporates into the majority of her music videos and on-stage performances.
So Close To What hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 just over a week after its release. A few of the most popular songs on the album include “Sports Car,” “Miss Possessive,” and “Revolving Door.” While these songs give an energetic, heartbreaker vibe, Tate kept her audience hooked by adding a few tracks that had a more sorrowful, heartbroken tone. A few of the “softer” songs include lyrical masterpieces like “Nostalgia,” “Purple Lace Bra,” and “Greenlight”.”
Tate McRae often adds a personal touch to each of her songs that captivates her fans; So Close To What was co-written by a few of her producers including Lostboy, Ryan Tedder, Blake Slatkin, Ilya, Emile Haynie, and Rob Bisel.
The So Close To What tour will be coming to Philadelphia PA on September 6th, as well as Pittsburgh PA, on October 15. Fans are looking forward to the show to see the new dance combinations, acts, and lyrical masterpieces that Tate will bring to the stage.
