As the school year is nearing its end, Bellefonte High’s seniors are preparing for their post-graduation lives. One of these seniors, Erin Ashe, looks back at her high school years, and readies herself for the future.
Erin is a part of Concert Choir, Drama Club, Jazz Band, Lacrosse, Marching Band, National Honors Society, and Varsity Golf. and has made many accomplishments within Bellefonte High. Some of these accomplishments include being a first chair soprano in 2024, gaining roles in school productions such as Delilah in Between The Lines, and Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, being captain of the Girls’ Varsity Golf team, and even the honor of being Miss Bellefonte.
She has also made lasting impressions on underclassmen. Erin’s influence has a positive effect on many who are friends with her.
“Erin is such a positive influence in our school and community! She uplifts everyone around her and I am so proud to be her friend,” fellow choir and cast-mate junior Samantha “Sami” Nedrow said.
“Erin brings a light into every room she walks into. She is an insanely talented musician and an incredible role model for those around her. She is always there to make you laugh or hold you when you cry and has a gift for making people feel loved,” Evelyn “Evie” St. Amant said, “Her leadership inspires those around her and she does a wonderful job leading the clubs she is a part of. I am grateful every day that I have her in my life and I know she will succeed at whatever she does next in life.”
Lasting impressions don’t just reach students, but also the staff members at Bellefonte High. Her warm atmosphere affects her teachers, especially choir and theatre teacher Mr. Eric Brinser.
“Erin brings great passion to whatever project she sets her mind to. In Drama Club, she has been a dedicated President, looking to involve everyone and make sure their voices are heard. She has been a major character in two musical productions and was always prepared at rehearsals and worked hard to set a good example for the rest of the cast. I always enjoy watching her talent shine!” Mr. Brinser said.
A big part about being a near-graduate is choosing a college and major, something you’ll want to devote the rest of your life to. This is a huge decision for seniors in high school, but Erin has it covered.
“I have a couple of options for college and I am not quite sure which one I’ll be attending, however my major will be Arts/Music administration with a minor in vocal performance,” Erin said.
Graduation isn’t all smiles, though. The thought of leaving high school leads to many fond memories flooding back. Erin is no exception to this thought.
“Something I will miss most about high school is the familiarity of everything, and seeing the faces of the people I’ve known since kindergarten. I am sad my high school time is up, mostly because it means I have to leave the place that gave me so many opportunities and best friends,” Erin said.
As graduation approaches, Erin leaves words of advice to everyone in the high school now, and upcoming students.
“Don’t worry about all the “what if’s” in life. Just do what makes you happy, try new things, and have fun!”
Bellefonte wishes their 2024-2025 Miss Bellefonte a sorrowful goodbye, as she prepares for the next chapter in her life.
