A truly anticipated part of the school year is the beginning of the spring sports season. Many athletes, many sports, and many games. There is just something about spring sports that gets people excited and revved up.
There are plenty of sports in this season, including baseball, lacrosse, track and field, and softball. Spring sports can be a way for people to show what they can do and who they are. Let’s take a look at all the sports featured in this special season.
Baseball:
One of Bellefonte’s most popular and successful sports, baseball, is no stranger to district titles and state playoffs, and championships. Bellefonte baseball has produced lots of gold to the area. One of the main captains of the whole team, senior Parker Capparelle, looks forward to a successful season.
“I expect a district title. We have won four in a row, and three prior to 2020, so it is expected of us to keep winning,” he said.
Bellefonte has a truly monumental history with their baseball program, and a big part of that are the coaches, including Coach Jonathan Clark (Varsity Head Coach), Coach Rick Hall (Varsity Assistant Coach), Coach Joshua Brown (Junior Varsity Head Coach), and Adam Gearhart (Junior Varsity Assistant Coach). Without their expertise and leadership, none of this would be possible. As the 2025 season begins, all we can do is root for our Red Raider Baseball team.
Lacrosse:
Bellefonte’s lacrosse team has attracted so many talented athletes. One of those athletes who has a big impact on this team is senior Ryder Hamilton. Ryder has been breaking records and setting monumental goals for himself and the team.
“My expectation for the team this year is to change the narrative. I think we have a really good group of guys this year, and we are capable of doing things that have not been done before,” Ryder said.
Bellefonte has many, many young athletes that are ahead of their game. Being able to make the impossible possible is the goal for their season.
Softball:
Bellefonte Softball is nothing short of astonishing. This group of athletes has worked day in and day out because they love what they do. Getting on this team means that you have what it takes to represent Bellefonte Softball as a whole. Whether it´s JV or Varsity, the bar is still set high in expectations. The grind never stops for these talented players, off-season or in-season. Knowing the expectations is something that is a must, and being on this team means that you know what it takes to do great things.
All of these sports are played in one season. One of the most important times in Bellefonte High. Teams will rise to the occasion; some won’t. Some will win, and ome will lose; it’s all a part of the game. You have to be willing to take the risks that all of these sports entail.
