Bellefonte High senior Colby Besch has proved to make an impact on every team he’s played on and has just recently committed to Westminster College to further his academics and athletic career.
“Colby has always had a strong will and a high competitive spirit. No matter what sport he took on, he was not content unless he was winning. As he has grown and matured, he has learned to use his will and competitiveness as a strength,” Dr. “Duffy” Besch, Colby’s dad, said.
Colby is a three-time high school varsity letterman, one time second team all conference and all conference honorable mention.
He plays a crucial part in the Bellefonte lacrosse program, picking up 21 ground balls, and causing 10 turnovers in the past two years. Colby is on his way to setting more records on the field.
Colby also excels in the classroom, posting a strong 3.31 GPA, while taking advanced classes. Though he is nearing the end of his senior year, Colby has not yet decided his major.
“Colby has worked hard to gain opportunities to play sports and advance his career to play in college. I am most proud of the person Colby has grown into as the lessons he has learned will stick with him throughout his life,” Dr. Besch said.
Colby still has his senior year of lax to complete but with much of the season left, the future looks very bright for Colby Besch.
“If there’s one thing I could say to young athletes, I’d tell them that the key to success is hard work and enjoying what you’re doing,” Colby said.
